The Art Centre is now officially open! A private opening for invited guests representing the arts, entertainment, media and other sectors of Swaziland attended the special event.
The event was set to coincide together with World Poetry Day and World Human Rights Day – commemorating together the importance of creative freedom of expression by opening Swaziland’s first visual arts centre!
Together with an exhibition, there were live art installations by some of the Yebo artists, poetry performances by local poets Blacknote & Rooted Soulz poetry collective, as well as live music by the Luveve Band.
Opening remarks were made by Makila James, US Ambassador to Swaziland, Stanley Dlamini, CEO of Swaziland National Council of Arts & Culture, and Mbongeni Mbingo, Editor of the Observer Newspaper.
The Art Centre is home to Yebo! Contemporary Art Gallery, ArtReach & JEREMPAUL Designs, and is a collaborative engaging space for artists and designers in Swaziland to meet, create, exhibit, learn and share together. Full press release with more info coming soon!
