Pete Armstrong- sculptor, screen-printer and ceramic artist!
“All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” This quote sums up my own feelings about art and creative thinking. I have spent my life since school trying to remain an artist and to encourage and help others to do the same. In Eswatini, this is more important now than ever as we attempt to grow our creative economy and question and explore new creative channels. I am primarily a sculptor, but enjoy and pursue the art of screen printing and ceramics. These disciplines, I have worked on since teaching at Mantenga Craft in Ezulwini in the 1970s. I taught art at Waterford Kamhlaba from 2006-9 and was privileged to witness the incredible talent of Swazi youth. I established Yebo Art and Design together with Aleta and Dane in 2010 as it is important to assist other artists in reaching their full potential. I have participated in over thirty exhibitions locally & abroad. Some of my work hangs in the new US Embassy, MTN Headquarters, Mlilwane Game Sanctuary and in private collections.
