Dzelisile, better known as Dzeli the Poet is a poet, writer and performing artist. She started performing on the Rooted Soulz stage back in 2007. In 2017, she had her first successful One on One show themed “Women Why Wine” with 16 poems dedicated to Woman and their struggles. She writes mostly women stories and focuses on Gender based violence and also inspiring and motivating them.
She has written stage plays and had her own show in 2018 (One women, 6 characters) which was a success at Bahle Gallery. She wrote a short film sponsored by the European Union in 2017 called “Human”, among other writers who were chosen to write that year. She is currently writing one of the first ever drama series for Eswatini TV to start airing soon, new poetry, a stage play to showcase in Mozambique in March and also producing a documentary on gender based violence that she hopes to air soon.
Dzelisile was born and raised in the outskirts of Nhlangano, KaDlovunga in the Shiselweni region of Eswatini.
Inyandzaleyo is a poem I wrote for Kwakha Indvodza as a campaign to stop gender based violence.
