Sakhile Gumbi, lives and works between Johannesburg South Africa and Eswatini. He is a poet, photographer, filmmaker and musician. He completed his studies in Multimedia Design at the University of Johannesburg and a Post Graduate Diploma in Arts at Wits University.
He has been involved in several group exhibitions in Johannesburg including Turbine Arts Fair and Joburg Arts Fair. He aslo hosted solo exhibitions at Bahle Gallery in Mbabane titled ‘The storyteller’ (2015) and ‘The Inaugurat’ (2017). He has also been involved in group exhibitions in Eswatini including the Standard Bank Luju Festival (2018) and ‘Eswatini Now’ (2018) hosted by Yebo Art Gallery.
He wrote and directed the critically acclaimed theatre production ‘Inhlitiyo and the Heart’ (2019) which had a run at the Eswatini Theatre Club. An excerpt from the play is included below.
