An art gallery in Jyväskylä, Finland called Äkkigalleria has invited seven Yebo artists to participate in an exhibition in one of their open-gallery spaces in the city. The seven participating artists are Celimpilo Dlamini, Aleta Armstrong, Khulekani Msweli, Bhekani Dlamini, Fela Dlamini, Sunshine Nxumalo & Dane Armstrong.
The exhibition is titled Climate (ex)Change, and is cross-cultural exchange between the artists from Swaziland and the residents of Jyväskylä, Finland. As a platform the exhibition allows the artists to explore and assert their thoughts and opinions on what could be connections, similarities and differences of the two countries in their geography, vegetation, cultures, people and art. Two small countries, two strong cultural identities, that know little to nothing about the other, are given a chance to meet on the common ground of art.
We are extremely excited to participate in this exhibition – the opening will be on the 26th November 2013, and will run for 8 days – please visit it if you happen to find yourself around Mid-Finland during this time…
Stay tuned for more info once the exhibition is up. Please visit www.akkigalleria.fi for more info on their work. News article from Times of Swaziland.
