Exhibition #53 – Creative Freedom

Yebo! Art Gallery’s current exhibition titled “Creative Freedom” aims to reignite the flames of artistic creativity and expression by giving Swazi artists the space to create and exhibit even in the face of turbulent socio-political environments locally and internationally. Comprised of work from both established and young emerging Swazi artists, Creative freedom is a reflection of the many voices present in Eswatini’s developing art scene. The exhibition features paintings from Aleta Armstrong, Antoinette Vosloo, Penny Mobsby Luoma, Phindile Mamba, Simiso Dlamini, Celimpilo Dlamini, Obed Chipwepwe and Phillip Mdluli. Drawings and photographs from Bulelwa Kunene, Nathi Tembe, Tutu Mkhabela, Sakhile Mngometulu, Sam Thwala and Sinenkosi Msomi can also be found in the exhibition with sculptures from Pete Armstrong, Bekani Dlamini and Johan Mhlanga.

Rising above the challenges of a depressed local market and a lack of tourists as a result of Covid, Yebo! Art Gallery continues to promote local artists online and in person through regular exhibitions and online documentation.

Creative Freedom will be running until mid-June and visitors can look forward to an exciting and thought-provoking exhibition exploring feminism and the climate crisis in July.
