Born in the rural areas of the Kingdom of eSwatini, Thobile Magagula, a.k.a Makhoyane, fuses her haunting vocals, traditional musical instruments, makhoyane and sitololo together with other western musical instruments creating a style of her own; ‘DloziRock’. She lets her music, through her powerful, charismatic stage presence and her strong lyrical content, captivates her audiences as she addresses social issues with the aim to not only entertain but to educate, empower and uplift.
Makhoyane has performed on different stages including Bushfire festival main stage, AZGO festival, Soweto Arts festival and other venues in eSwatini, Mozambique, and South Africa. The member and co-founder of the duo, Spirits Indigenous, and the all women outfit, (SheKings(swati SA), has been a part of numerous collaborations and projects, including: TP 50, funk Riot, TemaSwati, and has created music for different films and documentaries including the award winning Mabatabata and Restgate both from Mozambique
She got interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic whilst working on her debut album in Johannesburg, in March 2020 and still working out means and methods to get it done…
