On the 7th of January, 2023, Yebo hosted a lunch meeting for our represented artists at the gallery as an opportunity to share our plans for the year and create a space for constructive feedback from Yebo’s artists. In light of the instability brought on by the COVID pandemic, Eswatini as a whole and its creative economy specifically saw massive losses in access as well as overall creative output. The meeting provided a space for artists to voice any suggestions or concerns they had and marked a shift in the creative slump that we all found ourselves for the past 2 years. Looking to begin the year on a productive and focused foot, artists were provided with an exhibition schedule for the year as well as some updates on new projects that they can get involved in.
As Yebo seeks to bolster relationships between artists and the gallery, we are planning on hosting these lunch meetings every three months as an opportunity for represented artists to get to know each other and provide each other with creative support and break the habits formed during a time where isolation was necessary.
We are looking forward to a productive and creative year, and are pleased with the continued and increasing engagement with us from our artists and the public.
