In partnership with the International Trade Center’s Alliances for Action program funded by the European Union, Yebo Art Gallery will be showcasing a new range of home décor items designed and produced in Yebo’s workshop at this year’s Maison et Objet design and lifestyle expo in Paris. For 25 years, Maison et Objet has worked to build connections between buyers and designers with unique perspectives in the home décor and lifestyle sector and has thus created an international community through promoting raw and polished talent in the design space. In collaboration with Khulekani Msweli’s design brand JEREMPAUL, both Yebo and JEREMPAUL have curated a cohesive space that communicates the two brands’ distinct ideas. Through the theme of Ekhaya: The Spirit of the Home, Yebo has curated home décor items that are representative of the spirit and all-encompassing function of the home in Eswatini’s context.
This range has been made possible by partnerships with Indzaba Yami, a women-led handcraft co-operative from KaNdinda, Eswatini who have produced a unique range of grass and sisal woven baskets in a variety of interesting shapes (e.g. cabbage, milk pail and pumpkin shaped baskets.), as well as textile designs that have been made into cushion covers. In addition to these baskets, ceramicist Sicelo Masuku designed and produced mugs that were then fired with hand printed decals made from Aleta Armstrong’s illustrations. These mugs are accompanied by hand carved wooden spoons made by sculptor Fela Dlamini. Yebo will also be showing another range of cushion covers, hand printed and designed by Pete Armstrong, a collection of art cards, a new painting from Aleta Armstrong and two new pieces from Phindile Mamba.
We invite you to visit our booth at Hall 5A – Stand Q119 from the 19th of January – 23rd of January 2023 in Paris!
